Carbon fiber is a material consisting of thin, strong crystalline filaments of carbon, essentially carbon atoms bonded together in long chains. The fibers are extremely stiff, strong, and light, and are used in many processes to create excellent structural materials.
Carbon fiber can be up to ten times stronger than steel. Though carbon fiber is solid, one of its most valuable features is its lightness. Along with being more robust, carbon fiber is five times lighter than steel.
Carbon fiber is a low-density material with a very high strength-to-weight ratio. This means that carbon fiber is tough without getting bogged down like steel or aluminum, making it perfect for many applications.
